I Want My Hat Back

I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen is a wonderful addition to your library!  I read this book to a class this past week and they were a sight to behold!  When they figured out what was going on, their reaction was priceless!

Common Core Connection:
R.CCR.1 Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.

The Down Under Teacher has great posters to go along with the teaching Inferences!  Check them out here!

Contraction Spider Freebie

I just love using spiders during the month of October! There are so many great resources for the topic!
Here is a freebie to add to your collection.  Students will turn cards face-down and play the Memory Game, then write the matching pairs on  a spider web!  Great practice with contractions!
I hope you will follow me and visit my blog again!

Pumpkin Craft

Craft Idea from Katie at Fun Home Things!

Happy Fall!

With a new job, I am behind in my blog posting!  I found this super cute idea using canning rings at Fun Home Things!  I am making one of these this weekend!
I am an avid canner and always have extra rings.  This is a great use for rings that have begun to rust or have dents.  What a great secret-pal gift or craft for students.  You may have parents who would donate the rings!

20 regular mouth canning rings
Orange yarn
Orange spray paint
Cinnamon sticks

Thanks Katie for the inspiration!
